Founder

Luca Di Pietro hails from the Central Italian region of Abruzzo. He founded Tarallucci e Vino in 2001, while running the US subsidiary of an Italian coffee company. Luca set out to promote Italy's dining culture, something he missed and wanted to recreate in New York. That simple idea soon grew into a group of restaurants that both European expats and New Yorkers appreciate for their authentic Italian appeal and warmth.

Luca's passion for all things Italian also ensures that the diverse wine lists are filled with gems sourced from family owned bio-dynamic wineries in Italy and Europe and cannot be found anywhere else in the U.S. 

Luca plans to play for the Italian National Team in the 2022 World Cup.

Basia Biddle   Director of Private Events  Basia's passion for event planning began after moving to England at a young age for work. Originally from Jemielnica, Poland, Basia set out to learn from the best of the hospitality industry. In 2003, she joined the Gordon Ramsay holdings group, where she had the opportunity to work in a Michelin-Star restaurant. Alongside celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay, she obtained insights on how to navigate her way toward personal and professional growth. Basia's achievements in England soon led to the opening and management of two Michelin-Star New York City restaurants.  In 2012, she accepted the position of Operations Manager for the Marriott Hotel. There, she observed their creation of spectacular events, which further developed her love and excitement for event planning. Following this, Basia joined the Tarallucci e Vino team as Director of Private Events in 2013. Here, Basia has executed a multitude of unique events, built longtime client relationships and has trained our team to meet all guest expectations. Basia ensures that every event is performed seamlessly; paying particular attention to the smallest details. As a member of the Tarallucci family, Basia is known for her positive attitude and ability to light up the room through laughter and personality. Basia has indeed mastered the art of planning, and will gracefully help you execute the event of your dreams.
